Increase in field trip opportunities in all year groups

 

 In Year 7, 8 and 9 your child will study...

In Years 7, 8 and 9 there are three geography lessons a fortnight. In Year 7 pupils are placed in mixed   ability groups and in Year 8 and 9 pupils work in sets according to their ability.

Programme of Study:

· Year 7— Map skills, It’s your planet, About the UK, Glaciers, Rivers, Flooding and Africa

· Year 8— Asia, Population, Urbanisation, The Restless Earth, Coasts, and Earning a Living

· Year 9— Russia, International Development, Weather and Climate, Climate Change, Living off Earth’s Resources, and The Middle East

 

 In Year 10 and Year 11 your child will study…

GCSE Geography gives you a real, in-depth understanding of the world we live in. You will develop
critical thinking, analysis and problem-solving skills through issue-based geographical enquiries. The WJEC Eduqas GCSE (9-1) Geography B specification provides coverage of physical, environmental and human aspects of the subject and the linkages that exist between them.

Applied fieldwork trips — Y10 GCSE pupils visit Sheffield and the Peak District to enhance their learning and develop their fieldwork and analytical skills.
